Halifax 's limited public transportation and distance from the airport can make travel tricky.
Public Transport
Metro Transit operates the bus service in Halifax . Fares are $1.65 but a 20 ticket booklet can be purchased for $30 from Newstands.
In the summer a free bus service known as 'Fred' travels a circuit along South Street , Lower Water Street , Barrington Street, Spring Garden Road and South Park Street .
Ferries run regularly to Dartmouth from the Ferry Terminal near the Historic Properties. The short trip costs $1.65 each way.
Getting to and from Halifax Airport
Located 39km northeast of the city, Halifax International Airport is connected by highway 102. The only bus service to the airport is the Airbus which runs between the airport and some of the major, centrally located hotels.
Taxis to the airport cost around $25.
